New York Yankees first baseman underwent an MRI on Sunday that only showed inflammation his right wrist, Yankees manager Joe Girardi announced on Sunday.
Mark Teixeira injury: Yankees 1B’s MRI shows wrist inflammation, Joe Girardi says
Teixeira received a cortisone shot, and will be reevaluated in a few days.

Teixeira left Saturday's game against the Los Angeles Angels after re-aggravating his wrist injury, which prompted the MRI. Thankfully for the Yankees, the MRI did not reveal a new tear. Teixeira received a cortisone shot, and the team will reevaluate the first baseman after a few days.
The switch-hitter played in his first game for the Yankees this season on May 31 after suffering tendon-sheath damage in March. Teixeira has started the season slow offensively, hitting .151/.270/.340 in his first 63 plate appearances in 2013.
New York still has a number of players on the disabled list, including Derek Jeter, Alex Rodriguez and Curtis Granderson. Any extended period of absence by Teixeira would be a big blow to an already banged Yankees lineup.
Lyle Overbay started at first base in place of Teixeira on Sunday, with Travis Hafner replacing Overbay at DH.
