MLB Draft 2013: Appel, Frazier highlight recent draft signees

Three players have reached contract agreements with their respective teams since last Friday.

Three first-round draft selections reached contract agreements since Friday with the respective teams that drafted them.

No. 1 overall pick Mark Appel reached an agreement on his bonus figure with the Houston Astros, and is expected to officially sign sometime this week. Appel will receive a $6.35 million bounus, the highest bonus given to a player since the rules that severely penalized teams for signing players over-slot were put in place.

Outfielder Clint Frazier reached an agreement with the Cleveland Indians, singing a contract worth $3.5 million on Saturday. Frazier signed slightly under-slot; Cleveland's bonus pool for the No. 5 pick was $3.787 million. Frazier will report to the Arizona Rookie League to begin his career.

Left-handed pitcher Ian Clarkin reached an agreement with the New York Yankees on Monday, signing for the full slot value of $1.65 million, Jon Heyman of CBS Sports is reporting. Clarkin confessed to MLB Network that he was moved to tears by the Luis Gonzales single in the 2001 World Series because he "cannot stand the Yankees," but made it clear he was joking and has no issue playing for them.
