NL All-Star voting: Buster Posey vs. Yadier Molina

With less than a month to go, the Senior Circuit’s leading vote getters are catchers.

On Sunday night, Major League Baseball released the latest results from the NL All-Star vote. It's a catchers' league at the moment, as Giants backstop Buster Posey holds a slight lead of Cardinals' catcher Yadier Molina for the position, as well as for the most votes of any National League player.

There are a few weeks left to vote, if you’re into that sort of thing, as the lineups won’t be announced until July 7. Most of the positions seem to have significant gaps in them already, but there are a few that look like they still need a vote, especially with injuries changing the landscape of things leading in to the All-Star game.

As of Sunday, here are the leaders at each position in the NL:

With Pablo Sandoval, Troy Tulowitzki, and Bryce Harper all on the disabled list, that complicates things a bit -- it likely gives Wright an opening at the hot corner, and maybe lets an outfielder slip past Harper. With Tulo, however, the gap is so large, maybe he’ll still end up as the leader at shortstop even though he’s dealing with a broken rib. That won’t matter by game time, of course: if he’s back and healthy by then, he’ll play, and if not, a reserve will be popped into the lineup instead.

Plus, even with the missed month, his numbers are still going to impress for the position by the time the calendar brings us to the mid-summer classic.
