The long wait to see Zack Wheeler is finally over for Mets fans. The young right-hander, ranked the no. 11 prospect the the game by Baseball America, will make his MLB debut Tuesday night with a start against the Atlanta Braves at Turner Field, reports Anthony DiComo of MLB.com.

With young flamethrower Matt Harvey starting the early game of the club's double-header on Tuesday, the day is setting up to be a very memorable one for the Mets faithful. Not since Generation K in the mid-90s have the Mets had two young starters with as much promise as Harvey and Wheeler.
Harper Steps Up Recovery
Harper's return to the lineup is still a ways off, but getting the go-ahead to start jogging is a step in the right direction. Wheeler, 23, has been a top prospect -- if not the top prospect -- in the Mets' organization since the club acquired him from the San Francisco Giants for Carlos Beltran at the 2011 trade deadline. The young right-hander posted a 3.26 ERA and 8.9 K/9 in 149 innings between Double- and Triple-A in his first full season with Mets, and has followed that with a 3.93 ERA and 9.6 K/9 in 13 starts at Las Vegas this season.
Wheeler dealt with a small shoulder issue early on this year, but he seems to have put that behind him. His MLB debut has been a long time coming, and with the Super-Two deadline now likely in the rear-view mirror, there’s nothing keeping the right-hander from staying with the Mets for the long haul.
It's unclear at the moment what Wheeler's promotion means for the Mets' rotation. Manager Terry Collins has said that the club could go with a six-man rotation for a short while, but they may also bump Jeremy Hefner or Dillon Gee to the bullpen.
