Carlos Gomez runs up hill, makes falling catch

Tal’s Hill does make for some unique web gems, I’ll give it that.

Bob Levey

Minute Maid Park has some design oddities, most notably that hill in center field known as Tal's Hill, named for former Astros executive Tal Smith. Every now and again, the existence of that 90-foot-wide structure means we get to see a center fielder run right up the thing in an attempt to flag down a baseball in the deepest -- and steepest -- part of the ballpark.

The Brewers' Carlos Gomez is the latest to take a run up the hill, when he made a running/falling catch on a fly ball off the bat of the Astros' Jason Castro:

Carlos-gomez-catch

It’s the first out of the inning, and no one is on base, so Gomez takes the time to pose, ball in glove hand, after he finishes tumbling around on the hill. You earned it, Carlos Gomez. As has everyone else who has managed to make a play on that thing without snapping an ankle.
