Texas Rangers first baseman Mitch Moreland completed his rehab assignment at Double-A on Wednesday with a three-hit game and is scheduled to be activated from the disabled list on Friday, reports Gerry Fraley of The Dallas Morning News.

Out since June 6 with a strained right hamstring, Moreland showed no signs of discomfort in his three-game rehab stint with Double-A Frisco. The lefty slugger went 3-for-5 with a home run and a double on Wednesday, making him 6-for-12 with three doubles overall.

Moreland is expected work out with the Rangers Thursday then come off the DL for the club's series opener in St. Louis on Friday. A corresponding roster move -- likely the demotion of Chris McGuiness -- will be made before the game.

The 27-year-old was well on his way to career best numbers before his hamstring injury, batting .288/.338/.561 with 12 home runs in 216 plate appearances through 58 games. In the 13 games sans Moreland, the Rangers struggled to get any kind of production out of their first basemen, with McGuiness, Jeff Baker, and Lance Berkman combining for just two extra-base hits.
