Carlos Quentin injury: Padres OF (left shoulder) out of lineup 6th straight game

Quentin was not in the lineup Thursday night for their game against Los Angeles.

Padres outfielder Carlos Quentin was not in the lineup Thursday, the sixth straight game he has been held out. Quentin has not played in a game since June 14, when he suffered a sore left shoulder.

Manager Bud Black has said that Quentin will not see the DL, and that the shoulder “is doing better,” reports Marty Caswell of 1090 Sports Radio.

This game was the first time the Padres have played the Dodgers at Petco Park since the two teams brawled on April 11, and Quentin obviously was one of the central figures in that incident. Zack Greinke, the Dodgers pitcher who hit Quentin to start said brawl, did not want to talk about the brawl when asked by the press, reports Caswell.

Quentin, 30, is batting .261 with seven home runs in 2013, and is well on pace to best his 2012 numbers.

The Padres entered play Thursday in fourth place in the National League West, with an even 36-36 record.
