Rangers bobble, but win on play at the plate
It wasn’t the most conventional save, but it got the job done just the same.

Up 4-3, with two outs in the ninth and Josh Donaldson on first base following a single, Texas closer Joe Nathan gave up another single to Seth Smith. It should have just been that, but center fielder Craig Gentry bobbled the ball after playing it on a bounce, and it got away from him -- the A's responded by sending Josh Donaldson home.
This is a prime example of baseball being weird, because the only reason Donaldson was thrown out at the plate rather than held was due to a mistake the Rangers made -- it probably could have gone as an error, since it was a playable ball that Gentry miffed, but instead went as a single with an outfield assist to end the game.
