San Francisco Giants starting pitcher Chad Gaudin is expected to make his next start despite suffering a bruise on his right elbow in his last start, the pitcher announced on his Twitter page.

Gaudin left his previous start after being hit by a line drive on the elbow.

Miami Marlins second baseman Derek Dietrich hit Gaudin on the elbow with a line drive in the top of the fifth inning on Thursday night. Gaudin threw out Dietrich at first, but his arm hurt too much to stay in the game.

Fortunately, the X-rays on Gaudin’s elbow came back negative. The starter admitted to Andrew Baggarly of CSN Bay Area that the top of his forearm feels sore, but he wants to “work it out, get back out there.”
Gaudin moved to the starting rotation after Ryan Vogelsong broke his hand. The veteran has pitched well in the starting rotation, going 2-0 with a 3.38 ERA in his first four starts. Gaudin was effective out of the bullpen earlier in the year; he owns a 2.60 ERA in 52 innings overall this season.
