Boston Red Sox catcher David Ross has been shutdown following his meeting with a concussion specialist on Friday and he will miss at least two weeks as he recovers from the injury, reports Alex Speier of WEEI.com.
David Ross injury: Red Sox C shut down 2 weeks with concussion
Red Sox catcher David Ross is out indefinitely after sustaining his second concussion of the season.

Ross, 36, was hit in the catcher's mask by a foul tip during Friday's game against the Baltimore Orioles. He had spent time on the disabled list with a concussion in May and had reportedly still been feeling some symptoms. The latest incident caused a recurrence of the injury.
The Red Sox had Ross visit with concussion specialist Dr. Michael Collins on Thursday and, under his recommendation, have shut down their backup catcher from all baseball activities. Ross is scheduled to be reevaluated by Collins in the first week of July.
Ross missed two weeks with his first concussion. It’s unlikely he will return so quickly this time around, however. If his next visit with Collins goes well, he will still need time to be medically cleared and return to playing form. The Red Sox will likely to be extra cautious with this being his second concussion in two months. The team has not given a time frame for his return.
Ryan Lavarnway is backing up starting catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia with Ross on the DL.
