The Washington Nationals have placed right-hander Dan Haren on the disabled list with inflammation in his throwing shoulder and recalled corner infielder/outfielder Tyler Moore from Triple-A Syracuse, the team has announced.

Haren, 32, has been dealing with shoulder stiffness for at least his last two starts. The veteran right-hander called the injury “nothing really major,” per Tom Schad of MLB.com, and would not use it as an excuse to explain away his very disappointing start to the season, but one wonders how long it’s really been going on.
Harper starts rehab stint
The Nats left fielder will start his rehab assignment a bit earlier than he expected. Signed to a one-year, $13 million contract over the winter, Haren has struggled mightily in his inaugural season with the Nats. The right-hander owns an unsightly 6.15 ERA and 2.1 HR/9 through his first 15 starts, numbers so bad they leave one to hope an injury can explain it all away.
The Nats have not announced a Friday rotation replacement for Haren, but Double-A right-hander Taylor Jordan is believed to be the favorite. After four seasons wallowing in Low-A ball, the 24-year-old Jordan has come into his own this year, posting a 1.00 ERA and 4.80 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 15 starts between High-A and Double-A.
Moore, 26, makes his way back to the nation’s capital after a quick two-week demotion to Triple-A. The righty slugger was sent back to Syracuse to “find his swing” after two-plus months of flailing at the ball off the bench. Moore didn’t really have much more luck at Triple-A, batting .178/.264/.356 with two home runs in 12 games, but the Nats called him back anyway.
