Around the bases: Tuesday’s scores and highlights

The White Sox blew a save in hilarious manner, but that’s OK -- they were playing the Mets, so they still won the game. Out west, the Pirates hit five home runs off the Mariners to cruise.

Here are the highlights from MLB action Tuesday.

Nationals 7, Diamondbacks 5: A five run third and Gio Gonzalez put them in position to win this one, and the bullpen managed to not screw it up.

Orioles 6, Indians 3: A five run seventh including home runs from Alexi Casilla and Chris Davis gave the Orioles the comeback win in this one.

Yankees 4, Rangers 3: レンジャーズはヤンキースの黒田博樹に直面したダルビッシュ有が、開始した。イチローはヤンキースのためのゲームに勝ったサヨナラのホームランを打った。 (Translation: Rangers starter Yu Darvish faced Hiroki Kuroda of the Yankees. Ichiro hit a walk-off home run to win the game for the Yankees.)

Angels 14, Tigers 8: An eight-run fifth propelled the Angels to a big win on the road in Detroit. Will they be able to get going? And six Tigers errors in this game, which were made into art by SB Nation's Tigers blog, Bless You Boys:

Red Sox 11, Rockies 4: Ryan Dempster was solid, and the Red Sox got multi-hit performances from Jacoby Ellsbury, Shane Victorino and Dustin Pedroia. Almost enough to make them forget about that Stanley Cup choke.

Marlins 4, Twins 2: All rookies for the Marlins in this one. Derek Dietrich hit a home run and Jose Fernandez lowered his ERA below 3.00 with another solid performance.

Rays 5, Blue Jays 1: Matt Moore with one of the strangers pitching lines you'll see. Six innings, 11 Ks, six walks. Rays just keep hanging around.

Braves 4, Royals 3: Jason Heyward hit his sixth home run of the season and Kris Medlen pitched seven solid innings as the Braves edged the Royals in this one.

Brewers 9, Cubs 3: Kyle Lohse allowed three runs over seven innings as Rickie Weeks blasted two home runs.

White Sox 5, Mets 4: Zack Wheeler struggled through 5 1/3 in this one, and he was only able to strike out one batter. Cue the panic etc etc.

The team below won this game.

Cardinals 13, Astros 5: Astros fans- all those players that destroyed your team tonight, were acquired by a front office including many members of your own current front office. There is hope.

Dodgers 6, Giants 5: Brandon League was given another chance to close a game for the Dodgers, this time with a three-run lead. He allowed two runs on three hits without getting a batter out. So much for that. Paco Rodriguez got three outs for the save.

Athletics 7, Reds 3: Oakland scored seven runs off Bronson Arroyo in four innings. After walking three consecutive batters in the fifth, including walking in a run, A's starter Tommy Milone got chased before he could earn the win.

Phillies 6, Padres 2: Domonic Brown hit his 20th home run of the year, as Philadelphia scored six unanswered runs to win. The Padres had problems making routine plays, too. That seems to be the theme of the night. Here's Kyle Blanks:

Pirates 9, Mariners 4: The Pirates had five home runs, Starling Marte had two. Mariners starter Joe Saunders allowed three of them and didn't make it out of the second inning. Jeff Locke improved to 7-1 after allowing two runs over seven innings.
