Alex Gordon attacked by moth while batting

The Royals were trying to mount a comeback in the ninth, and this moth was having none of it.

The Braves were facing the Royals in Kansas City on Tuesday night, and the latter began to stage a comeback in the ninth inning of a one-run game. Mike Moustakas led off the frame with a walk, then David Lough followed with a single. This all eventually led to Alex Gordon coming up with two on and two outs against Craig Kimbrel -- that's when the moths attacked.

That's the moth version of a hit-and-run -- it flies into Gordon's eye, then immediately flies away from the scene of the crime. What might be even better than a moth flying into Gordon's face, though, is that Braves' catcher Brian McCann was complaining to the umpire about Gordon calling time so late, as if the moth was all part of some master plan by the Royals' grounds crew to upset Kimbrel's rhythm and give Kansas City an edge.

Seriously, though, this thing hit Gordon right in the eyeball -- it was not his friend:

The Braves would end up winning, without the moth’s interference meaning much -- Gordon intentionally walked after Kimbrel fell further behind in the count, and Kimbrel would get the next batter. Sans moth assist, of course.
