Evan Longoria injury: Rays 3B irritates plantar fasciitis in foot, leaves game
Rays third baseman Evan Longoria made an early exit Friday against the Tigers after his plantar fasciitis flared up.

Longoria started the game playing third and batting fourth for the Rays. In the second inning he hit a ground ball to Tigers second baseman Omar Infante for the first out. Following that at-bat, he did not return for the start of the next inning. He was replaced at third by Kelly Johnson.
Longoria has had issues with the foot condition at other points this season. He was relegated to DH duties during the team's previous home stand against the Kansas City Royals from June 13 to June 16 as a result of the same injury. Johnson took his place in the field at that point as well.
Despite this issue, Longoria is putting together another excellent season, hitting .299/.368/.551 over 342 plate appearances.
