Crawford was placed on the disabled list on June 2 after straining his left hamstring the day before while legging out a double against the Rockies. According to Gurnick and Laymance, the Dodgers plan to have Crawford make two starts in the minors at DH and two in the field before returning him to major league action.

After two difficult, injury-plagued seasons as a member of the Boston Red Sox, Crawford was showing signs of being back to the player he had been in Tampa Bay, where he was a four-time All-Star. He has hit .301/.358/.470 in 201 plate appearances this season and he leads the Dodgers in runs scored with 32. In his absence, the Dodgers have struggled to find a temporary solution in left, trying seven different players there since he went down.
