Around the Bases: Pittsburgh Pirates first team to 50 wins, Chris Davis first player to 30 homers

The Rockies and Rays both had walk-off singles, while the Reds and Cubs each hit game-winning home runs in extra innings. Michael Cuddyer’s hitting streak is up to 26 games.

Here are Saturday’s scores and highlights from around the MLB:

Twins 6, Royals 1: Justin Morneau hit a two-run double off Wade Davis in the first inning, and Trevor Plouffe followed Morneau with a two-run homer, helping the Twins score five runs in the first inning. Davis was historically ineffective with his pitches, noted by Aaron Gleeman of Hardball Talk.

Mets 5, Nationals 1: Dillon Gee threw six innings for the Mets, only allowing one run on six hits to beat Washington for the third time this season. David Murphy collected three hits for New York, while Josh Satin smacked a pair of doubles.

Cardinals 7, Athletics 1: Adam Wainwright tossed a complete game to earn win No. 11 this season, allowing one run on five hits while striking out eight. Matt Adams hit two home runs for St. Louis, finishing with four RBI. Oakland starting pitcher Jarrod Parker left in the fourth inning with hamstring tightness and will be reevaluated on Sunday. Stomper enjoyed himself despite the score.

Braves 11, Diamondbacks 5: Atlanta scored seven runs in the bottom of the eighth inning, rallying for its 23rd comeback victory of the season. Jason Heyward hit an RBI double to tie the game, while Andrelton Simmons scored the go-ahead run on a throwing error by Jason Kubel. Freddie Freeman hit his eighth home run of the season -- a two-run shot off Arizona starter Ian Kennedy.

Rays 4, Tigers 3: Yunel Escobar hit a walk-off single off Bruce Rondon in the bottom of the 10th inning after Luke Scott hit a solo homer off Justin Verlander in the eighth inning to tie the game.

Miguel Cabrera and Fernando Rodney had a confrontation in the top of the 10th, as Cabrera jawed at the reliever from the dugout after Rodney struck him out. Rodney had thrown a pitch up-and-in earlier in the at-bat.

Blue Jays 6, Red Sox 2: Jose Bautista blasted a pair of home runs against the Red Sox, homers No. 200 and 201 of his career. The rightfielder also gunned down Shane Victorino at the plate on a Dustin Pedroia single in the sixth inning. Jose Reyes and Adam Lind had multi-hit games for Toronto. Marlins 7, Padres 1: Jacob Turner threw the first complete game of his career, allowing one run on seven hits while striking out a career-high seven batters. Tuner has a 1.76 ERA over six starts since rejoining the Marlins. Giancarlo Stanton hit his eighth home run of the season, while Placido Polanco became the 22nd active player to score 1,000 runs in his career.

Orioles 11, Yankees 3: Chris Davis hit a pair of home runs against the Yankees, becoming the 25th player in MLB history to reach 30 homers in 82 games. The Orioles had two big innings, scoring three runs against New York in the first and five runs in the third.

Rockies 2, Giants 1: Nolan Arenado hit a walk-off single off Jeremy Affeldt to hand the Giants their sixth straight loss.

Michael Cuddyer extended his hitting streak to 26 games with a single off Matt Cain in the first inning, driving in the Rockies' first run of the game. Cuddyer's hitting streak is the longest in franchise history and the longest one this season.

Indians 4, White Sox 3: Nick Swisher hit an RBI-single off Jesse Crain in the eighth inning, giving Cleveland its third victory over Chicago in less than 24 hours. Jason Kipnis smacked a two-run homer for the Indians, while Asdrubal Cabrera hit a solo shot. Chris Perez tossed a scoreless ninth to earn his first save since returning from the disabled list.

Cubs 5, Mariners 3 (11): Alfonso Soriano hit a game-winning two-run homer in the top of the 11th inning off Oliver Perez, ending Perez's 14-game scoreless streak. Seattle had mounted a comeback in the ninth inning, as Endy Chavez singled in Michael Saunders with two outs to give Kevin Gregg his first blown save of the season.

Angels 7, Astros 2: Josh Hamilton made a pair of great catches, helping Joe Blanton limit Houston to two runs over seven innings.

The Angels scored four runs in the fourth; Alberto Callaspo and Erick Aybar both hit bases loaded, two-run singles in the inning. Peter Bourjos left the game in the fourth after being hit by Jordan Lyles on his hand.

Reds 6, Rangers 4 (11): Devin Mesoraco smashed a two-run homer to left, driving in Todd Frazier to snap a 4-4 tie. Cincinnati made three errors in the third inning that led to three Rangers runs, including two errors by first baseman Joey Votto. Shin-Soo Choo hit a home run on the first pitch of the game, his 12th of the year.

Pirates 2, Brewers 1: Pittsburgh won its eighth straight game and 50th of the season behind a strong start from Francisco Liriano and a shutdown performance from the bullpen. Pedro Alvarez and Garrett Jones homered for the Pirates, who have the best record in baseball and are the first team to reach 50 wins.

Dodgers 4, Phillies 3: Philly second baseman Chase Utley homered in his first two at bats, but it was Jimmy Rollins' game-tying sacrifice in the ninth off Dodgers closer Kenley Jansen that stung Los Angeles more. It turned out well in the end, though. A.J. Ellis drove in Hanley Ramirez for the walk-off win. Speaking of Hanley, check out his monster homer in the first:
