The 29-year-old made his third rehab appearance at Triple-A on Monday -- notching a double in three at-bats -- and didn’t appear to have any lingering hamstring issues.
Ramirez was the first key Dodgers player to go down with a hamstring injury, straining the muscle in his left leg while running the bases against the Giants on May 4. That game was just Hanley's fourth of the season, having missed most of April with a torn ligament in his left thumb.
Crawford to DL
The dreaded hamstring strain strikes in Hollywood yet again. Han-Ram's return to the lineup could not come at a more crucial time for Los Angeles. The Dodgers have lost both Matt Kemp and Carl Crawford to the DL in the last week to similar hamstring injuries, and currently sit in the NL West cellar at 24-32; not exactly what the front office had in mind when they put together the most expensive team in baseball history.
Ramirez's return to the Dodgers should help exponentially in improving the club's production from the shortstop position. Dee Gordon, Justin Sellers, Luis Cruz, and Nick Punto have hit a paltry .182/.272/.271 combined in Hanley's stead, good for the third-worst OPS at short in all of baseball (behind Seattle and Pittsburgh).
