Hanley Ramirez injury: Dodgers shortstop activated from disabled list

Dodgers shortstop Hanley Ramirez is back from the DL and will bat cleanup on Tuesday night.

Dodgers shortstop Hanley Ramirez has been activated from the disabled list and will play in Tuesday night's game, reports Mark Saxon of ESPN Los Angeles.

Due to multiple injuries, Ramirez has appeared in only four games for the struggling Dodgers this season. He is expected to be a big part of the team moving forward, so his return could provide a boost for the club.

The team has cycled through unimpressive shortstops to this point in the season, so getting Ramirez back will bring stability to one of the most important positions on the field. Despite the fact that Ramirez is not the most sure-handed shortstop out there, he is still a lot better than the makeshift options the Dodgers have put out there to this point.

The team will need to turn it around quickly, or else the highest-paid club in baseball will likely face some major changes. Manager Don Mattingly has been rumored to be on the hot seat, and he could be the first to go if the team continues to struggle.

Ramirez hit .243 and .257 in 2011 and 2012, respectively. He was acquired by the Dodgers in a trade deadline deal in 2012 from the Miami Marlins.
