UPDATE 12:30 pm ET: Rocky River police have confirmed that they obtained a search warrant for Chris Perez's home, obtained evidence upon said search, and will be bringing up charges against Perez shortly, reports Nick Camino of Newsradio WTAM.

Camino adds that Perez reportedly received the “illegal substance” -- which is believed to be marijuana -- via regular mail, which seems like a pretty easy way to get caught.
ORIGINAL: Cleveland Indians closer Chris Perez is being investigated by police in Rocky River, Ohio, in regards to a drug-related incident that took place at the right-hander's home some time Tuesday, reports Paul Hoynes of the Plain Dealer.

A package of marijuana was reportedly delivered to the closer’s residence in Rocky River, which has naturally led to the police inquiry. Contrary to an earlier report, no arrests have been made in the matter.

All you need to know in preparation for Thursday's amateur draft. Perez, 27, is currently on the disabled list with a strained rotator cuff in his right shoulder, and is not traveling with the team. No further details of the incident are known at this time, but the team has released a brief statement:
“Earlier this morning we were made aware of a situation involving RHP Chris Perez that occurred yesterday in Rocky River,” said Cleveland Indians GM Chris Antonetti.
“We have talked with Chris and are currently in the process of gathering additional information. We will not have any additional comment at this time.”
Manager Terry Francona has given a similar “no comment” response, but is expected to fully address the situation in a press conference at Yankee Stadium prior to Wednesday afternoon’s game.
