Harper missed the entire month of June with a left knee injury.

The Washington Nationals will activate Bryce Harper from the 15-day disabled list and hit the outfielder third against the Milwaukee Brewers on Monday at National Park, Bill Ladson of MLB.com is reporting.

Harper missed the entire month of June with a left knee injury. The 20-year-old hurt his knee slamming into the Dodger Stadium wall on May 13, but did not go to the DL until June 1.

Nationals starter Jordan Zimmerman talked about the impact that Harper’s return will have on the team, telling Ladson:

“Bryce is a big part of this team. Our lineup hasn’t been 100 percent all year. He is a great hitter, great defender. It’s definitely good to get him back.”

Harper had been an offensive force before heading to the DL, hitting .287/.386/.587 in 178 plate appearances.

Most pundits predicted that Washington would win the NL East this season, but the team sits 6 1/2 games back behind the Atlanta Braves for first place. The Natioanls are 41-40 halfway through the season, and believe that the return of Harper will help them play better baseball the second half of the season.
