2013 MLB All-Star voting: Jose Bautista grabs final spot in AL outfield

Bautista holds a slight lead over Torii Hunter and Nick Markakis for the final starting outfield spot.

USA TODAY Sports

Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Jose Bautista has moved into the final starting American outfield spot for 2013 MLB All-Star Game with just three days remaining, writes John Schlegel of MLB.com.

Bautista, with 2,679,230 votes, holds a slight advantage over Nick Markakis of the Baltimore Orioles (2,536,864) and Torii Hunter of the Detroit Tigers (2,390,336). Both Markakis and Hunter have led the voting during the past few weeks, so this race should come down to the wire.

The rest of the AL starting lineup remains relatively unchanged. Tigers third baseman Miguel Cabrera (5,844,165) has still received the most number of votes, with Orioles first baseman Chris Davis (5,468,703) trailing Cabrera.

New York Yankees second baseman Robinson Cano (3,974,322), Baltimore shortstop J.J. Hardy (3,509,180) and Minnesota Twins catcher Joe Mauer (3,869,330) all hold strong leads at their respective positions, as does Boston Red Sox designated hitter David Ortiz (4,398,197).

Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout (4,822,983) holds a slight advantage over Orioles center fielder Adam Jones (4,766,256) for the top vote-getter in the outfield, although both players have a sizable lead over Bautista.

Fans can vote online until Thursday, July 4 at 11:59 p.m. ET.
