Marlins sign 1st round pick 3B Colin Moran

Miami waited until the deadline to sign its first-round draft pick, inking a deal with Colin Moran for right around slot money.

USA TODAY Sports

The Miami Marlins agreed to a deal with first-round draft pick Colin Moran on Friday, according to MLB.com's Joe Frisaro. Moran, the No. 6 overall pick in the 2013 MLB First-Year Player Draft, will receive more than $3.5 million.

Moran, a 6’4, 215-pound third baseman out of the University of North Carolina, will be invited to big league camp next spring. The 20-year-old lefty hit .345 with 13 home runs en route to All-American honors in his junior season. Moran was named the 2013 ACC Player of the Year and is a finalist for the Golden Spikes Award, which is given to the top amateur player in the nation.

Moran is the 31st draftee with whom the Marlins were able to agree to terms. Miami was not able to ink a deal with No. 35 overall pick Matt Krook or third-round selection Ben Deluzio.
