MLB All-Star Weekend 2013 schedule: Futures Game, Home Run Derby and Midsummer Classic highlight festivities
There’s plenty going on in New York City surrounding this year’s version of the MLB All-Star Game.

Highlighting the weekend portion of the events is the All-Star Futures Game, which takes place at 2 p.m. ET on Sunday at Citi Field. Among the plethora of highly-touted prospects are a pair of New York Mets farmhands representing the U.S. team as pitcher Noah Syndergaard and outfielder Brandon Nimmo will play in front of what they hope will one day be their home crowd.
Also scheduled for Sunday is the All-Star Legends & Celebrity Softball Game, which will take place prior to the Futures Game. Many former Mets and Yankees greats will participate in the game, along a host of celebrities and a few athletes from other sports.
Monday is workout day, which will be capped off with the 2013 Home Run Derby. David Wright and Robinson Cano are the captains of their respective squad, and the event features a pair of former winners and baseball's leading home run hitter in 2013, Baltimore's Chris Davis.
The five-day event comes to a close on Tuesday with the main event, the 2013 MLB All-Star Game. The National League looks for its fourth consecutive victory after snapping the American League’s 12-game winning streak in 2010.
