The Atlanta Braves placed center fielder B.J. Upton on the disabled list Sunday with a right adductor strain, according to the team's official Twitter page. The move also makes room on the roster for Evan Gattis, who was activated from the DL earlier in the day.
B.J. Upton injury: Braves OF placed on 15-day DL; Evan Gattis activated
Upton will miss time after straining his right adductor diving for a ball during Friday’s game.

Upton left Friday's game in the first inning after straining his adductor muscle--located in the hip--while attempting a diving play on a Todd Frazier line drive. His DL stint will be retroactive to July 13.
The time off may be good for Upton, who is suffering through a career-worst year after signing a big contract with Atlanta in the off-season. Upton is hitting just .177 in 2013 with a .565 OPS over 84 games. He is also among league-leaders with 102 strikeouts on the season.
Gattis, activated earlier on Sunday, had been on the disabled list since June 18 due to a right oblique strain. The rookie slugger has been an important bat for Atlanta this year as he has posted an .894 OPS with 14 home runs.
All of a sudden, the Braves outfield is looking very thin. Jordan Schafer is on the DL with an ankle contusion, Jason Heyward strained his left hamstring and hopes to avoid the DL, and Justin Upton also left Friday's game due to a calf strain.
Gattis, who has played some outfield for the Braves this season, is helping the team out at first base for the time being as Freddie Freeman sits with a jammed finger.
Due to all the injuries, the Braves' starting outfield for Sunday's game is Jose Constanza, Reed Johnson, and Joey Terdoslavich
