Biogenesis scandal: A-Rod’s ‘camp’ denies 150-game suspension rumors

As the outlook gets bleaker for Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez, his legal team will not look to settle on a 150-game , according to reports.

Alex Rodriguez’s camp denied rumors of a potential settlement on a 150-game suspension in the ongoing Biogenesis investigation, reports Bob Nightengale of USA Today.

It had earlier been reported by the NY Daily News that the Yankees third baseman could be facing a 150-game suspension as a best-case scenario.

Rodriguez met with investigators for over four hours on Friday, and he was so shaken by the meeting that he missed his rehab game that night with High-A Tampa. The Yankees informed A-Rod that he would have to notify the team of any further absences.

Major League Baseball is reported to have an enormous amount of evidence on Rodriguez, going as far as testimony from former Biogenesis head Anthony Bosch, which will prove “multiple violations of MLB’s joint drug agreement.”

The league also reportedly “wants these guys out of the game.” MLB believes a 150-game suspension for Rodriguez could do just that, despite his contract spanning past the potential time of that suspension. A-Rod is already 37 years old, and has missed 184 games since 2011 with various injuries -- another 150 games would cut a season he might not have left in the tank out from under him.
