After six innings, the American League is beating the National League by a score of 2-0.
MLB All-Star Game: American League tacks 1 on
The American League continues to dominate at Citi Field.

In the top of the fifth, the American League tacked on an extra run when J.J. Hardy drove in Adam Jones on a force out. The remainder of the inning was Tim McCarver drooling over Brandon Phillips, and then Phillips being happy to oblige by turning an awesome barehanded double play.
In the bottom half, Matt Moore sat down Carlos Gonzalez, Yadier Molina and Troy Tulowitzki on nine pitches. Quite useful, if you ask me.
The sixth inning for the National League was pitched by the incredible Jose Fernandez. The youngest All-Star this season, Fernandez carved up American League hitters like they were minor leaguers. He struck out Dustin Pedroia, got Miguel Cabrera to pop out and struck out Chris Davis.
The American League brought in Athletics closer Grant Balfour for their half, and he promptly walked Michael Cuddyer to bring up Bryce Harper as the tying run. Balfour retired Harper on a pop out, which brought up Matt Carpenter, who had replaced Phillips at second base (poor McCarver). Carpenter flew out to Adam Jones, which brought Andrew McCutchen up as the tying run. But he struck out on a slider from Balfour to end any threat.
