Alex Rodriguez injury: Yankees 3B moves rehab to Triple-A

A-Rod will suit up for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Thursday, and will likely spend the rest of his rehab with the club.

USA TODAY Sports

Alex Rodriguez will spend the final few days of his rehab assignment with the Yankees' Triple-A affiliate in Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, reports the New York Daily News. He will report to the International League club on Thursday.

A-Rod, 37, is now 10 games in to his prolonged minor-league rehab assignment, which he began on June 30. His rehab stint is expected to end after 20 days, so if the Yankees stick to their plan then Rodriguez should come off of the disabled list early next week.

The veteran third baseman has appeared in games at Low-A, High-A, and Double-A thus far, but hasn’t shown much at the plate at any of the three levels. Rodriguez has just five hits in 28 at-bats so far -- including seven strikeouts -- though he does have a home run and a double.

Never one to get through anything without a bit of controversy, A-Rod upset the Yankees last Friday when he failed to show up for his rehab game with High-A Tampa. Rodriguez met with MLB’s investigators about the Biogenesis scandal instead that day, but reportedly did not have permission to miss the game.
