New York man faces up to year in jail after running on field during All-Star Game

The fan who ran on the field during the All-Star game pleaded not guilty to interfering with a professional sporting event.

A suburban New York man who ran onto the field during the All-Star game at Citi Field will face up to a year in jail and a $1,000 fine, prosecutors told the Associated Press.

Dylan McCue-Mason of Shirley, Long Island pleaded not guilty to the charge of interfering with a professional sporting event, confirmed Queens district attorney Richard Brown. McCue-Mason also faces civil penalties of up to $5,000, and is due back in court on September 11.

McCue-Mason sent out the following Tweet during the All-Star game:

The Yankees fan, who attended the game with his father and brother, received more than one thousand retweets, and made good on his promise after his mother told him not to but his girlfriend encouraged him to run on the field. Rodger Sherman chronicled the entire Twitter saga that lead to the fateful decision.
