Houston Astros starting pitcher Erik Bedard lost to the Seattle Mariners on Saturday despite giving up no hits, as the Astros fell 4-2 at Minute Maid Park.

The Astros lost to the Mariners on Saturday despite outhitting their opponent and taking a no-hitter into the seventh inning.

Bedard flashed dominant stuff, as he fanned 10 Mariners over 6 1/3 innings. The southpaw also battled his control; he issued five walks, which helped inflate his pitch count to 109 pitches.

The veteran was charged with three runs, one of them earned. Seattle scored two unearned runs in the sixth inning off Bedard. The lefty issued walks to Michael Saunders and Brad Miller, and both runners advanced into scoring position on a Jason Castro passed ball. Nick Franklin followed with a sacrifice fly, driving in Saunders and advancing Miller to third, while a second passed ball drove in Miller.
Bedard issued a one-out walk to Justin Smoak in the seventh before being removed for Jose Cisnero. Cisnero allowed a two-out walk to Mike Zunino, and Saunders drove in both runners with a double.
The Astros lost the game despite out-hitting the Mariners, 7-1. Houston is the only team since 1916 to allow four runs on one hit, according to ESPN blog You Can’t Predict Baseball.
