San Francisco Giants reliever Jeremy Affeldt is likely headed to the disabled list after limping off the mound with a strained left groin during Saturday's game, reports CSNBayArea.com's Andrew Baggarly.
Jeremy Affeldt injury: Giants reliever expected to land on DL with groin strain
Affeldt left Saturday’s game against the Diamondbacks early after straining his left groin.

After throwing a called strike during the sixth inning Saturday, Affeldt began feeling an area near his left groin, prompting a team trainer to come to the mound. After a short talk, the two walked off the mound and Affeldt had an MRI on the area shortly thereafter. The results of that MRI were expected to be known on Sunday.
Affeldt, 34, has been one of San Francisco’s best relievers since joining the team in 2009, even garnering MVP votes that year. Over 38 games this season, he sports a 3.51 ERA and 1.260 WHIP, but has seen his strikeout numbers dip to a 5.71 K/9, down from a career 7.1.
If Affeldt does land on the DL, Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle guesses Jean Machi would be recalled to take his roster spot.
