The San Diego Padres placed starting pitcher Jason Marquis on the disabled list Sunday with an elbow strain, reports U-T San Diego's Bill Center.
Jason Marquis injury: Padres SP lands on 15-day DL
Marquis was revealed to have an elbow strain after complaining about soreness following his last start.

Marquis started Friday’s game for the Padres and struggled, allowing six runs over 5.1 innings. His fastball also saw a significant drop in velocity. Following the game, Marquis told team officials that his elbow wasn’t feeling right.
Marquis, 34, has a 4.05 ERA over 20 starts in 2013, but also has a 1.521 WHIP and a 5.2 BB/9 that almost matches a 5.5 K/9. He originally joined the team as a minor-league free agent mid-season 2012 after being cut from the Minnesota Twins.
The U-T suggests that the injury may mean that Marquis has pitched his last game as a member of the Padres.
San Diego called up pitcher Miles Mikolas from Triple-A Tucson. Mikolas has pitched in 26 games out of the bullpen for the Padres the last two years with a 3.51 ERA overall. He has posted excellent relief numbers in the minors throughout his career.
