Former San Francisco Giants closer Brian Wilson is expected to start throwing for teams within the next few weeks, reports Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle.

The former San Francisco Giants closer may not be interested in returning to his former team.

Giants general manager Brian Sabean’s people have asked Wilson’s representatives to include the team in the process, according to Schulman. Wilson may not want to return to the Giants; the closer was apparently upset that the the team did not tender him a contract after 2012.
Wilson underwent his second Tommy John surgery in April 2012, and the Giants would have had to offer the reliever at least $6.9 million to keep him. The Giants were unsure about his recovery, which made the team unwilling to offer Wilson a contract.
The right-hander chose to enter free agency and rebuild his arm strength rather than sign a minor-league contract and continue his rehab with one team. Wilson served as the San Francisco closer from 2008 through 2011, compiling 163 saves in those four seasons.
