Ryan Ludwick injury: Outfielder to begin rehab assignment
The Reds could get one of their better hitters back from the DL soon.

Ludwick is recovering from a separated shoulder he sustained on Opening Day, which also required surgery to repair a torn labrum.
Ludwick has been taking batting practice and working out, but playing in games is the next step he will have to take before returning to the Reds.
The team is surely excited to replace the production of Donald Lutz and Chris Heisey with Ludwick and his career triple-slash line of .263/.334/.466. At age 35, however, it may be smart for the team to play it safe with their corner outfielder.
He hopes to return before his 20-day rehab stint is over, but he knows that it is out of his control.
