MLB trade rumors: Tigers, Red Sox, Dodgers interested in Francisco Rodriguez

K-Rod could be one of the most valued commodities on the trade market this July.

Jeff Hanisch-US PRESSWIRE

The Tigers, Red Sox, and Dodgers are all interested in trading for Brewers reliever Francisco Rodriguez, reports Danny Knobler of CBS Sports.

The Brewers have not come close to completing a deal for Rodriguez, or other relievers such as John Axford or Mike Gonzalez, but the team expects to move those players closer to the trade deadline.

Rodriguez might be the best reliever on the market this July -- a fact that’s somewhat surprising given a down 2012 that led to a minor-league contract for this season -- and he is a versatile one at that. He has experience in the middle and late innings, and he can be used in multiple bullpen roles effectively depending on what a team needs him for.

Rodriguez, 31, has an ERA of 1.09 this year in 25 games, and he has also closed for the Brewers. The Brewers did not have to give up much to initially acquire him, as the Mets were looking to get out from under a vesting option he had in 2011.

The Brewers appear to be in full sell-mode at this point, as they are also looking to deal third baseman Aramis Ramirez when he returns from the DL, though, that might end up waiting until the waiver trade period in August.
