Ryan Braun successfully appealed a suspension in 2012, but that won’t be the case this time around as Braun admitted to making some mistakes and apologized to fans following the news that he would be suspended for the rest of the 2013 season.
Ryan Braun admits ‘some mistakes,’ accepts PED suspension
Ryan Bruan won’t appeal his latest suspensions, admitting to making “some mistakes” in a statement released following the announcement.
According to a release from MLB, Braun was suspended for violations of the basic agreement and its joint drug prevention and treatment program. He’s been tied to the Biogenesis PED scandal and admitted to previously making some mistakes. While he did not directly admit to using performance-enhancing drugs, Braun said he would accept the consequences of his actions.
“As I have acknowledged in the past, I am not perfect,” Braun said in the statement. “I realize now that I have made some mistakes. I am willing to accept the consequences of those actions.”
He said the situation has been a distraction for the organization and taken a toll and his family. He apologized to fans he may have disappointed and said he was glad to put the situation behind him and move forward. Braun will miss the final 65 games of the regular season. I am very grateful for the support I have received from players, ownership and the fans in Milwaukee and around the country. Finally, I wish to apologize to anyone I may have disappointed - all of the baseball fans especially those in Milwaukee, the great Brewers organization, and my teammates. I am glad to have this matter behind me once and for all, and I cannot wait to get back to the game I love."
