Major League Baseball compiled “extensive evidence” against the Milwaukee Brewers outfielder.
Major League Baseball suspended the outfielder for the remainder of the season on Monday, a total of 65 games. MLB compiled “extensive evidence” against Braun, according to Quinn.
The evidence against Braun led the outfielder to strike a deal with MLB. MLBPA director Michael Weiner told the New York Daily News last week that the union would not fight for any players who might be suspended when faced with overwhelming evidence that they used PEDs.
MLB wanted to start the Braun suspension immediately, so the league announced his ahead of the others, writes Quinn. Braun’s admission of guilt will make it more difficult for other players to attack the credibility of key witness Tony Bosch. Around 20-25 other players are expected to receive suspensions in the coming weeks, including New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez.
