The Yankees continue to be modestly disinterested in the return of Alex Rodriguez, and they are likely to fine him for getting an outside doctor to take a peek at his strained quad according to Newsday.
Alex Rodriguez likely to be fined by Yankees over doctor, per report
A-Rod saw a doctor he wasn’t supposed to, and the Yankees will likely discipline him.
After team doctor Christopher Ahmad diagnosed Rodriguez with a strained quad, Rodriguez went to Dr. Michael Gross to see what he had to say. Gross said he didn’t have a strained quad. Although Rodriguez eventually released a statement apologizing for the mix-up and stating his desire simply to get back in the team’s lineup, he still went outside of league guidelines: players are supposed to first request the ability to seek outside doctors and then select from an approved list. Rodriguez didn’t ask the team first.
Yankees GM Brian Cashman says Rodriguez could play in a simulated or rehab game by Aug. 1, but Rodriguez’s statement indicated he wanted to play for the Yankees on Friday night.
