The Atlanta Braves are reportedly looking to add a starting pitcher before the trade deadline and the team is actively pursuing Houston Astros starter Bud Norris, according to Jon Morosi of Fox Sports. A trade for Chicago White Sox pitcher Jake Peavy is a "legit possibility," too, writes David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constiution.
Braves trade rumors: Atlanta pursuing Norris, Peavy ‘legit possibility”
Injuries to Paul Maholm and Tim Hudson have Atlanta on the hunt for a starting pitcher.

Atlanta entered the second half of the season with what appeared to be a full rotation and a pair of options looming in Brandon Beachy and Alex Wood. Injuries to Paul Maholm and Tim Hudson have changed the landscape, though, and the team is also thinking about sending Kris Medlen back to the bullpen according to Mark Bowman of MLB.com
Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez gave a prophetic quote last week to Brian Hedger of MLB.com, telling the reporter:
“You think you’ve got too many starters and the next thing you know, three days later, you’re looking for more pitching. I think at this time of year, having guys like [Wood] and Beachy gives you a lot of depth.”
Norris and Peavy are two of the better pitchers available in a shallow pitching market if the Braves are looking to buy. Norris is 6-9 with a 3.93 ERA this season while Peavy is 8-4 with a 4.28 ERA.
