Philadelphia Phillies closer Jonathan Papelbon expressed his frustrations with the current direction of the organization, telling reporters "I definitely didn't come here for this," reports Todd Zolecki of MLB.com.

The Phillies’ closer thinks the team needs to make changes “from top to bottom” to turn things around.

Papelbon talked with reporters before the team's 12-4 loss to the Detroit Tigers on Sunday. He discussed what it might take to turn things in Philadelphia around, stating:
"It's going to take, in my opinion, a lot. And in my opinion, I think it's going to have to be something very similar to what the Red Sox went through a couple years ago. From top to bottom."

The 2011 Red Sox entered September in first place in the AL East, but went 7-20 down the stretch to miss the post-season. The team parted ways with Terry Francona and Papelbon after the season, and traded a number of players in 2012. Boston entered Monday with a 63-43 record, first place in the AL East.
Papelbon indicated that he does not want to be traded, telling the reporters:
“No, I would like to stay here. But if I’m going to have to put up with this year after year, then no, I don’t want to be here. Why would you? Why would anybody?”
The closer currently owns a 2.21 ERA with 20 saves in 25 opportunities. Papelbon is in the second season of a four-year, $50 million contract.
