MLB trade deadline: How to watch the coverage

MLB Network and ESPN will have live coverage leading up to the July 31 trade deadline.

Brian Kersey

The MLB trade deadline will descend 4 p.m. ET on Wednesday, July 31, after which waivers will be required for any swaps. Teams will be making moves right up to the deadline, trying to increase their chances of reaching the postseason or selling off veterans in hopes of a better future. While you may not be able to see the general managers complete the trades, you can watch the coverage to stay on top of the deals your team is making.

MLB Network is planning more than 17 hours of live coverage before the deadline. There will be dedicated segments of deadline discussion on “The Rundown,” “MLB Now” and “Intentional Talk” starting on Monday. The network will air a two-hour “MLB Tonight: Trade Deadline Special” at 2 p.m. ET on Tuesday, then a six-hour “MLB Tonight: Trade Deadline Special” starting at 11 a.m. ET on Wednesday.

ESPN will air "Sportscenter Special: MLB Trade Deadline" starting at 3 p.m. ET on Wednesday, and will air an episode of "Baseball Tonight" after the ESPN Wednesday Night Baseball Game between the St. Louis Cardinals and the Pittsburgh Pirates, which starts at 7 p.m. ET. ESPN2 will also televise episodes of "Baseball Tonight" at 10 p.m. ET on Tuesday and 12 a.m. ET on Wednesday.
