The Detroit Tigers' acquistion of relief pitcher Jose Veras on Monday hasn't stopped them from discussing trade possibilities with the San Francisco Giants for left-handed specialist Javier Lopez, according to Fox Sports' Jon Morosi. Lopez has posted a 1.42 ERA in 45 appearances this season with a career-high strikeout rate of 9.6 per nine innings.
MLB trade rumors: Tigers, Giants discussing Javier Lopez
Giants reliever Javier Lopez is on the block and the Tigers reportedly remain interested, despite their acquisition of Jose Veras.

The Giants are listening on Lopez, but they're unlikely to deal outfielder Hunter Pence or starting pitcher Tim Lincecum, per CBS Sports' Danny Knobler.
The Giants have lost four consecutive games and seven of their last eight, dropping the defending champions into last place in the National League West. Despite leaning more toward the "sellers" category due to their 46-58 record, the Giants recently acquired Guillermo Moscoso from the Chicago Cubs and are linked to free-agent reliever Brian Wilson -- the team's closer from 2008 through 2011.
