Angels shortstop Erick Aybar is drawing interest from the St. Louis Cardinals, according to CBS Sports' Danny Knobler.
MLB trade rumors: Cardinals interested in Angels SS Erick Aybar
Erick Aybar is having a down year for the Angels, but he’d still represent an upgrade over Pete Kozma, so the Cardinals have their eye on him.

Aybar, 29, is hitting .280/.309/.384 in 341 plate appearances this season. While that leaves a lot to be desired, it would be an upgrade over what the Cardinals are getting out of their starting shortstop, Pete Kozma, who is hitting .241/.283/.301.
The Angels have expressed a desire to add quality arms to their system, even going as far as to inquire about incumbent Arizona Diamondbacks starter Ian Kennedy. The Cardinals have exceptional pitching depth but haven't been jumping out of their shoes to part with any of it. Perhaps the fact that Aybar is more than a rental would change that; he is signed through 2016 at $8.5 million per year.
The Halos have also listened to offers on third baseman Alberto Callaspo and starting pitcher Jason Vargas, and the team is willing to make "nearly everyone available," writes Knobler.
