The Tampa Bay Rays have placed left-hander Matt Moore on the disabled list with elbow soreness, reports Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times.
Matt Moore injury: Rays place LHP on disabled list with elbow soreness
Uh oh. Hold your breath, Rays fans.

More Rays: Comparing the Traveling Relievers
Moore, 24, felt discomfort in his throwing elbow during his start on Sunday at Yankee Stadium, per Topkin, which may explain his very un-Moore-like outing. Coming off a shutout of Boston’s much more potent offense at Fenway the week before, Moore lasted just five innings against the Yanks, allowing five runs on eight hits.
The Rays are hopeful that Moore will miss just one start and that their number of off-days in the coming weeks will allow the team to get by with four starters until the young left-hander can return to the rotation. While the Rays appear to be optimistic about Moore's injury, it's never unreasonable to worry about a young pitcher who's dealing with elbow issues. (Just ask the O's about Dylan Bundy.)
Instead of replacing Moore with a pitcher, the Rays have promoted utility man Ryan Roberts to temporarily fill Moore's roster spot. Roberts is getting the start at third for the Rays on Wednesday.
Moore’s struggles with command have continued into his second full season in the Rays’ rotation, but the southpaw has managed to get good results despite his persistant struggles to find the strike zone. Moore owns a 3.41 earned-run average and a strikeout-to-walk ratio of just over two-to-one in 21 starts so far on the season.
