Royals outfielder Alex Gordon has passed the tests for a concussion and will not need to be placed on the seven-day concussion disabled list, reports Dick Kaegel and Kathleen Gier of MLB.com.

After a nasty collision with the outfield wall, Alex Gordon has officially escaped without a concussion. However, the other end of the Royals’ left fielder did not come out unscathed.

Gordon left the Royals game against the Indians on Wednesday night after colliding with the fence while trying to track down a long fly ball off the bat of Jason Kipnis. Gordon got turned around while going back on the hit and fell backwards, hitting his head against the corner of padded post in left field. After the fall, he did not get and appeared to be unconscious. Kipnis ended up with an inside-the-park home run on the play. Gordon's coaches and trainers came to his aid, and he was able to leave the field under his own power.
“They said I was cleared to go,” Gordon told Kaegel and Gier. “They did all the tests, followed all the rules and they cleared me to go. So I’m just going to get back into action here today and hopefully get things rolling.”
Gordon also suffered what the Royals are describing as a hip contusion on the play, but Gordon had a more exacting assement of the minor injury. “It’s not my hip that’s banged up, it’s my derriere, I guess that’s the correct way to say it. It’s just the rear end, and it’s a pretty bad bruise,” he told Kaegel and Gier.
