Yasmani Grandal injury: Padres C suffers right knee sprain

San Diego Padres catcher Yasmani Grandal left Saturday's game against the Washington Nationals after suffering a right knee sprain in the third inning. Anthony Rendon slid into Grandal's right leg on a force play at home, and he looked to be in serious pain before he was helped off the field, putting no weight on his right leg.

Grandal was replaced in the game by Nick Hundley. Following the loss of Grandal, the Padres are very thin at the catcher position and will likely have to add another to the roster. MLB.com's Corey Brock speculated that it would be Rene Rivera, the starting catcher for the Padres' Tucson affiliate, that gets the call.
