Around the Bases: Adam Jones hits go-ahead homer off Mariano Rivera, Chicago Cubs win walkoff

Mariners 3, Reds 1: Joe Saunders tossed seven efficient innings for the Mariners, allowing one run on six hits while striking out two. Nick Franklin hit a solo homer in the first, while Justin Smoak added a two-run home run in the third off Bronson Arroyo.

Indians 9, Tigers 6: : Michael Brantley hit a pair of homers, including a two-run shot off Al Alburquerque in the eighth inning to help Cleveland snap a seven-game losing streak against Detroit. Carlos Santana and Lonnie Chisenhall also homered for the Indians, while Miguel Cabrera went 4-for-4, hitting his 28th homer of the season.

Orioles 2, Yankees 1: Adam Jones roped an 0-1 fastball off Mariano Rivera in the top of the ninth inning for a two-run homer, tagging his fellow All-Star with just his second blown save of the season:

Rivera's blown save wasted a dominant start by Hiroki Kuroda, who tossed seven scoreless innings, only allowing three hits while striking out four. The Orioles bullpen kept the game close, holding the Yankees hitless over the final four frames.

Blue Jays 11, Twins 5: Toronto starter Todd Redmond earned the first win of his major-league career, allowing two runs on one hit over five innings. Colby Rasmus went 3-for-4 at the plate, hitting a double and a home run, while Jose Reyes and Rajai Davis also went deep for the Blue Jays.

Washington 11, Padres 7: Ryan Zimmerman blasted a grand slam in the bottom of the third inning, crushing a first-pitch fastball from Robbie Erlin to the opposite field for his tenth homer of the season:

Bryce Harper went 3-for-4 with a walk, while Anthony Rendon hit homer No. 3 on the season. Stephen Strasburg threw six innings, allowing four runs on seven hits while striking out nine.

Phillies 7, Braves 3: Domonic Brown hit a homer and triple, driving in a pair of runs to help lead the Phillies past the Braves. Ben Revere smoked a two-run triple, while Darin Ruf and Carlos Ruiz scored on a play with an Alex Wood wild pitch and Brian McCann throwing error. Atlanta starter Kris Medlen surrendered a season-high six runs over 5⅓ innings.

Rays 3, White Sox 1: David Price threw a complete game in his second start back from the disabled list, surrendering one run on eight hits while striking out five. Price outdueled John Danks, who allowed three runs on five hits over seven innings. Luke Scott went 2-for-3 at the plate, while Sean Rodriguez hit an RBI-single the fifth.

Cardinals 3, Marlins 2: Lance Lynn collected win No. 11 of the season for St. Louis, allowing two runs on seven hits over seven innings. Lynn outpitched Marlins All-Star Jose Fernandez, who surrendered three runs on four hits over six innings. Matt Holliday hit a solo homer in the first, while Carlos Beltran went 2-for-3 at the plate, and stole home in third inning while Holliday was caught in a rundown.

Athletics 10, Royals 4: The Athletics scored five runs off Luis Mendoza in the second inning, chasing the starter after only 11 batters. Josh Reddick hit a homer and a double, driving in four runs for the Athleitcs, while Jed Lowrie and Eric Sogard also hit home runs. George Kottaras and Alex Gordon each hit a solo homer for the Royals.

Mets 2, Brewers 1: Jeremy Hefner matched his career-high with eight strikeouts, only allowing one run on two hits over seven innings. Both of the Mets runs against the Brewers were unearned thanks to a pair of throwing errors by Juan Francisco. Josh Satin went 3-for-4 with two doubles and a RBI, extending his hitting streak to 11 games.

Cubs 4, Pirates 3 (11): Dioner Navarro hit a walk-off sacrifice fly with the bases loaded, easily driving in Anthony Rizzo:

Starling Marte had tied the game for the Pirates with a two-out solo homer off Kevin Gregg, giving the closer his second blown save of the year. A.J. Burnett made his first start since being activated from the disabled list, and allowed three runs on three hits over five innings.

Rangers 5, Astros 4: The Texas bullpen held Houston to just two hits over the final five frames after Justin Grimm surrendered four runs on six hits in four innings. A.J. Pierzynski smashed a three-run homer off Erik Bedard in the first inning, while Adrian Beltre hit a solo homer in the fifth. Nelson Cruz drove in the go-ahead run in the fifth, hitting a single to left field to plate Ian Kinsler.

Diamondbacks 6, Rockies 1: Patrick Corbin pitched eight strong innings and struck out 10 to lead Arizona to its fifth straight win and a weekend sweep of the Rockies at Chase Field. Arizona hit five doubles in the win, including two by Aaron Hill. Roy Oswalt left the game in the second inning with a hamstring injury, but lasted long enough to suffer his fourth loss in four starts with Colorado.

Dodgers 4, Giants 1: Clayton Kershaw allowed a single run in eight innings, improving his career mark against the Giants to 11-4 with a 1.32 ERA in 20 starts. A.J. Ellis hit a three-run double off Sergio Romo in the ninth inning to break the tie and give the Dodgers their fourth straight series win, which moved them into second place in the National League West.

Angels 3, Red Sox 0: Home runs by Mike Trout and Hank Conger off former Halos pitcher John Lackey proved more than enough for Jered Weaver, who combined with three relievers for a five-hit shutout. The Angels have won 10-of-12 games, but remain 8½ games out in the American League West.
