Around the Bases: Monday’s scores and highlights

Tigers 4, Indians 2 (10 innings): Matt Tuiasosopo tied the game up with a home run in the fourth inning, but Max Scherzer was denied a decision in the game. Scherzer went seven innings and gave up two runs on seven hits, three walks and seven strikeouts to remain at 13-0. The winning runs came on a Victor Martinez two-out, two-run double in the top of the 10th and Joaquin Benoit closed the door for his seventh save.

Athletics 2, Pirates 1: Oakland, on the back of Bartolo Colon, was able to edge out the Pirates, led by Jeff Locke in this one.

Rangers 8, Orioles 5: The Rangers scored six runs in the sixth inning of this one to start the series off on a good note.

Phillies 3, Nationals 2: Phillies hold on here, 3-2, despite a late push by the Nationals. John Lannan pitched solidly in this one against his former team.

Royals 5, Yankees 1: Jeremy Guthrie was solid, and Billy Butler homered as the Royals continue to try and hold on for dear life.

Rays 7, Twins 4: The red-hot Rays continued their winning ways in this one, and are now in second place in the American League East. Luke Scott, Yunel Escobar, and Ben Zobrist all homered in this one.

Braves 7, Marlins 1: A SIX run 14th inning gave the Braves the win in this one. Another ugly moment in the 2013 Marlins' season.

Brewers 4, Reds 3: Carlos Gomez has all your clutch.

Cubs 8, White Sox 2: Matt Garza pitched very well in this one, not allowing an earned run. The Cubs would score five runs in the eighth inning and never look back.

Dodgers 6, Diamondbacks 1: Seven shutout innings from Zack Greinke and the Dodgers cruise in this one, as they continue to surge toward first place. Puig watch: 2-5.

Mariners 11, Red Sox 4: King Felix had plenty of run support Monday from his M's. Raul Ibanez hit his 22nd home run and Justin Smoak had a pair of doubles, as they were among the six Seattle batters to pick up more than one hit in the game.

Rockies 4, Padres 2: Tyler Chatwood was great in this game for Colorado, going 6.2 innings and giving up two runs on five hits. The Padres managed to bring the winning run to the plate in the bottom of the ninth, but Rafael Betancourt managed a scoreless inning to pick up his 12th save of the year.

Mets 4, Giants 3 (16 innings): Tim Lincecum and Matt Harvey engaged in a bit of an unexpected pitchers' duel in a game where Lincecum actually looked better. The former two-time Cy Young winner gave up three runs on six hits in seven innings, striking out a season-high 11 batters while walking just one. The Giants tied the game up 3-3 in the seventh inning and the game continued on into the night. Buster Posey contributed five of the Giants' 14 hits and came a triple short of the cycle. In the end, Brandon Crawford bobbled a ground ball with runners on the corners and two out in the top of the 16th to allow the winning run to score.
