Alex Rodriguez is scheduled to play a pair of rehab games this weekend with the New York Yankees' Double-A affiliate Trenton Thunder, according to Mark Feinsand of the New York Daily News. That is, of course, if the reports that he may receive up to a lifetime ban from the MLB don't come to pass before he's able to make the rehab appearances.

The New York Yankees announced that Alex Rodriguez will play a pair of rehab games this weekend. Will a potentially-looming MLB suspension put the kibosh on those plans?
Rodriguez is currently on the shelf with a quad injury, but he’s repeatedly said he’s healthy enough to return to action for the Yankees. The Yankees are apparently ready to let him prove it in Trenton, but the pending MLB ruling on Rodriguez’s involvement in the Biogenesis investigation could potentially put a halt to that.
Rodriguez has yet to play in the majors this season and his last rehab assignment in early July was shut down early due to the quad injury. The Yankees’ mercurial infielder played in a simulated game on Thursday, though, and the New York Post’s Joel Sherman said sources told him Rodriguez felt “great” en route to a 1-for-2 performance that included a few walks.
