Injured Braves starting pitcher Tim Hudson says he plans to continue playing beyond 2013 and hopes that he will remain with Atlanta, according to an Associated Press report.

Hudson, 38, suffered a season-ending fractured right ankle on July 24 when New York Mets hitter Eric Young Jr. accidentally stepped on Hudson's foot as Hudson covered first base.
Hudson will be a free agent following the 2013 season. Hudson said the Braves, who he has pitched for since 2005, will need to fully evaluate how his recovery is advancing before possibly offering another contract. That isn’t likely to happen until the offseason, when Hudson is officially a free agent and is completely healthy.
“Yeah, I think it’s one of those things where we’re both on the same page,” Hudson was quoted as saying in the AP report. “They want to see how I bounce back from this and how I feel. I haven’t spoken to them personally, but that’s just kind of the common sense thing.”
Before going down with his injury, Hudson had been going through perhaps his worst year since 2006. Still, he had a 3.97 ERA and 1.188 WHIP over 21 starts.
