St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Carlos Beltran left Sunday's game against the Chicago Cubs with a right foot contusion, the team announced.

X-rays on Beltran’s foot came back negative, and the Cardinals listed the outfielder as day-to-day.


Beltran appeared to suffer the injury when he fouled a pitch off his foot during an at-bat in the fifth. The outfielder ended up striking out, and did not return to the field. Matt Adams replaced Beltran, shifting Allen Craig from first base to right field.
X-rays on Beltran’s foot came back negative, reports David Wilhelm of the Belleville News-Democrat. St. Louis listed the outfielder as day-to-day.
Beltran entered Sunday hitting .305/.340/.519 with 20 doubles, 20 homers and 62 RBI. The Cardinals are well-positioned to replace Beltran if he misses any time. Adams is hitting .283/.340/.489 in a reserve role, while Craig is batting .314/.362/.458 while spending time at first base and in the outfield.
St. Louis entered Sunday on a four-game losing streak, sitting four games behind the Pittsburgh Pirates for first place in the NL Central.
